I use it all the time on my bass DI to add that amp sound. I love the selection of amps and effects. I know many people do not have amps or the space to record loud amps, so GTR is incredibly handy. Waves have officially stepped into the Guitar Amp Sim ring with these and I'll be curious to see if they do this with other amp manufacturers.“ Waves GTR is a great tool for either re-amping a direct signal or adding effects and another amp to an already recorded amp signal. With the right IR's, these Waves prs amps are putting my other amp sims in the virtual closet for now. I recently demoed the Thermionik Suite of amps that are $50 right now and I'll admit they sounded pretty good, but I liked them best on Maximum quality (6) so running a few instances of them in combination with a few virtual instruments ate up my CPU fast! Latency became an issue with my thunderbolt interface and that just doesn't happen with other guitar sims that I own or have tried.and that sound just as good for my needs so this suite of amps is a no go And oh yeah, the Cleans that can be had are most excellent! To me, these amps play into the hands of clean to mid gain users. I will say that the stock IRs seem to be a bit dark to my ears but using third party IRs was instant gratification. These waves PRS amps have the built in OD/boost if needed that gets the bottom end really tight, and it sounds better than all of my other third party OD plugins I'm used to using before my guitar sim plugs, such as the Mercuriall TS clone for example. With S-Gear, I was always disappointed in how the bottom end seemed spongy/loose. I always thought S-Gear had some of the smoothest gain and breakup I've heard in a plugin and I'm hearing this with these amps. Very clean gain, great body to the tone, and great dynamics. These sound NOTHING like GTR3 imo.nothing of the sort.

Each amp has its use for me so I'm thrilled.

I'm loving these amps, especially the Archon.

#Waves gtr3 standalone code
I hadn't received a $29 email code from Waves like others had, so I emailed their sales department last night and got the code this morning! all the comments are from unhappy customers who are unhappy with their licensing methodology. I get that you might be willing to put up with it but I’m not and want to point it out for others because IMHO this is a particularly bad scheme given how expensive their stuff is and it is restrictive enough to be a deal breaker for me. Literally every other VST I have except for Revalver allows at least two machines as part of their standard license. If you do not uninstall Waves licenses from the one and then take the other machine off site you basically cannot use any of your Waves stuff because there is no way to activate the license. if you use their soft option waves manager thing to uninstall and reinstall to your machines main HDD you have to remember to uninstall from the one before using the other: like say you have a desktop and a laptop.
#Waves gtr3 standalone install
No, you have two options: install the license on a dongle or install it on the ‘disk’ of one of your machines if you use a USB stick or whatever as a dongle it acts like an iLok type thing.
